The stairs and bannister in our home is uneven so we required a gate that could be installed diagonally. This is not perfect but meets our needs without getting super creative or expensive. My main complaint is that the locking maneuver is difficult to latch with one hand because you need to push down the lock at the top and align two vertical holes.
