I lost my first key tool so I bought another. LOVE this key it really squeezes out all the hair dye to the last drop without hurting your fingers. A must have if you dye your own hair and use the tube dye.

A: This is just the tube key, not hair color. It's used to help you squeeze out every last bit from a tube of hair color. (Or anything in a tube for that matter. Works great for toothpaste for example.)

A: Hello!=) The Tube Key is a metal key, that you slide on the end of your hair color tube. It's purpose is to help you push/squeeze the color out. You slide the key, then turn until your tube is empty. Do not throw key away. You just remove key from sliding off. Then when you need to update your color. Bring out these keys and repeat. A: I just tried it and it sort of works. My toothpaste tube was wider than my hair color tube, but that wasn't really a problem. It still fit on the tube and I was able to turn the key. Hair color tubes are metal, though, so when you turn the key it stays wound nice and tight. The toothpaste tube is plastic, so it doesn't hold its shape very well after it's wound. The key does a good job of squeezing the toothpaste down, though.

A: Possibly but not as easily. The hair color tubes are metal and as such they have a bump of folded metal at the end. Toothpaste tubes generally are plastic and have a crimp at the end which does not form a bump. This bump keeps the tube key from slipping off.
